The BIG Day

Proposal

The preparation...

While Audrey was still away in Alberta (working on a secondment in her company's Oilsands project), Jimmy was invited over for dinner at Audrey's parents' place.  He took this opportunity to ask them for their blessings for Audrey's hand in marriage.  They were ecstatic about it; but they had no idea when it would happen.

The buildup...

He picked her up from the airport on friday (Aug 8th, 2008).  Her plane landed an hour late, raising concerns for delays in his plans for that night.  All he told her was that they were going out for dinner that night, to a nice place.

The setting...

To her surprise, they ended up at the exquisite 360 - the revolving restaurant atop the CN tower!!  After their delicious lobster dinner, she thought they were strolling back to the car, but instead he opened the door to a limo parked on the street!!  Audrey was thrilled, as this was her first time in a limousine.  While she was busy playing with the controls for the light, temperature and partitioning screen, he popped in a CD that he had made, with the first song being her favorite one (Stuck On You by Lionel Ritchie).  And that got her attention!!

The question...

As the limo took off, he proceeded to tell her how wonderful their time together had been and how he couldn't imagine his life without her in it.  By the time the second song played, he was down on one knee (while trying to maintain his balance, because the limo driver thought he was on a race course)... and pulled out a box (after first pulling out his cellphone!)...and asked the big question...
"Audrey Fernandes, Will You Marry Me?

The response...

She couldn't help but to burst into tears and hug him.  He waited patiently for her response (hoping the tears were a positive sign).  After she confirmed that it was indeed a 'Yes', they cruised around downtown Toronto & Yorkville, practically wanting to shout out of their limo to tell everyone the good news!
